Our approach

We build Masal Hazinesi for two reasons: the child understands what they read, and the parent hears the child.

  1. Understanding what is read

For a child learning to read, sounding out words and understanding a story are different things. In Masal Hazinesi a child can read the story alone or listen to the narration; the word being read is highlighted, and syllable colours and larger text make reading easier.

Each story ends with up to three short questions about what happened in it. In the parent area the parent sees which story the child read and how they answered.

  2. Listening to the child

A child does not always say on their own that something is wrong at school or with friends, such as being left out or teased. Some stories end with two conversation questions related to the story. The child’s answer is shown only to the parent, together with a suggestion for talking about it.

The app makes no diagnosis and does not replace a specialist; it only shows the parent the child’s own words. Answers are deleted after 90 days. The parent can turn the questions off at any time, and stored answers are deleted at once when they do.

  3. Without pressure

We do not use the mechanics that keep children on screens: no lives, streak penalties, countdowns or rankings. A child opens any story in any order.

The parent sets the daily reading time and bedtime. Rewards depend on the story read and the right answer, not on time spent in the app.

  4. With little data

A child profile is a first name, an avatar and the few settings the app needs. No third-party analytics or advertising tools are used.

Story files are never stored in a public place; they are sent only to an account that has access, through short-lived links.
